Dear Matilde

At last I have found something positive from Copenhagen - the Declaration.

Please keep me informed about what is happening to improve, develop and
to implement its ideals.

Copenhagen – farce then tragedy

(final words of a long article :....

"Change will come from the streets not the conference hall, and needs to be organised now. The Canadian ecosocialist Ian Angus's Climate and Capitalism website provides perhaps the best source for documents promoting real solutions to climate change and I recommend that readers of this article look at it on a regular basis. Chavez's speech to Copenhagen is essential, and Morales' Ten commandments for climate action needs to be read and acted upon. As Evo Morales noted:

"If we want to save the planet earth to save life and humanity, we are obliged to end the capitalist system. The grave effects of climate change, of the energy, food and financial crises, are not a product of human beings in general, but rather of the capitalist system at it is, inhuman, with its idea of unlimited industrial development."

The Klima Declaration needs work to make it conform to scientific reality.

e.g. It does not challenge the prevailing "consensus" that CO2 emissions should be allowed to continue to rise for some years before tapering off - a view based on the outdated view that 450ppm of atmospheric CO2 would be acceptable.
e.g. It does not demand that CO2 levels need to drop to 350ppm or lower a.s.a.p.
e.g. It opposes the use of Biochar, but please Note: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biochar
" This technique is advocated by prominent scientists such as James E. Hansen, an internationally-renowned climate scientist and head of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, and James Lovelock, creator of the Gaia hypothesis, for mitigation of global warming by greenhouse gas remediation.[14]"
e.g.It accepts that private car ownership continue (at lower levels than now) while in his book "Heat" George Monboit proves this to be untenable.
